The Winneba District Magistrate Court has granted bail of 3,000 Ghana cedis with one surety each to Nana Ayirebi Acquah and four others for stealing and causing unlawful damage.
Nana Ayirebi Acquah, a traditional ruler at Winneba, John Otoo, 49, Emmanuel Smith Mensah, 37, pleaded not guilty to the charge while Kobina Ebo and Nunoo Hammond are at large.
The accused persons would reappear before the court on August 13.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector William Akaanah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Owusu Nssiah that the complainant is a pharmacist residing at Mankessim.
The prosecutor said on July 17, Otoo, Mensah, Ebo and Hammond went to the building site of the complainant at Gyetekrom near Winneba Junction and stopped workers who were erecting a fence wall.
According to Chief Inspector Akaanah, the accused persons unlawfully carried away the working tools of the workers made up of two wheel barrows, eight shovels, nine head pans, two sprit levels and one drum used for collecting water.
He said on July 19, they returned to the site and damaged the fence wall valued at 1,325.83 Ghana cedis.
Chief Inspector Akaanah said the complainant reported the case to the police and Otoo and Ebo were arrested.
The prosecutor said they admitted the offence and alleged that it was Nana Ayirebi Acquah who abetted them to commit the offence and that they handed over the items they took away to Nana Ayirebi Acquah.
