SSPP Challenges Due To Incompetent & Inept Implementers Kweku Baako

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has agreed with President John Dramani Mahama in saying that the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) cannot be scraped. The SSPP, formerly known as the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), has become an issue of contention following challenges with its implementation; a challenge which has led to many agitations within the labour front. Contributing to panel discussions on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako was of the view that abandoning the SSPP can bring more chaos. Kweku Baakos comment follows a two-day national forum on the implementation of the SSPP in Ho in the Volta Region. The seasoned editor posited that damage has already been done and there is the need to look for solutions instead of scraping the policy or playing politics with it. He indicated that policy was started in 1967 to 1999 but it didnt work however, in 2006, the erstwhile Kufuor administration decided to take the bull by the horn and try for once to make it work As far as I am concerned, this whole situation we find ourselves in is due to the incompetent and inept handling of the SSSS by those entrusted to make it work. The Central point is the Fair Wages and Salary Commissionwe should ask ourselves questions of the quality of the personnel in that outfitthe lack of the requisite competence. He said some of the issues that were discussed in Ho, should have been discussed before the policy was implemented to avoid the challenges being faced now.
