SSPP: We Need Solutions...NDC's Propaganda & Politicking Has Caught Up With Them

A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is of the firm opinion that challenges facing the implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) are due to the propaganda and politicking by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). John Boadu claims when the current administration took over the policy from the erstwhile Kufour government, they were only interested in how much workers are now earning under the SSSS instead of putting concrete measures in place to make the policy sustainable. The loopholes and the leakages are too many and we all see over the period especially when you read through the auditor generals reportThey politicised the issue too much; playing propaganda, saying the salary of people have been increased and so on. That was not important, John Buadu said. Reacting to the various challenges of the SSPP which led to a forum at Ho, in the Volta Region, the Deputy Communication Director told Kwami Sefa Kayi on Fridays edition of Kokrokoo that if we dont do critical analyses by segregating and disintegrating the salary structure, the same challenges will be persisting and which in the long run, affect productivity. A National Forum on the sustainability of the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) was held a few days ago to affirm that the policy presents a unique opportunity for realizing equity and fairness in managing compensation within the principle of transparency in public service. The forum was in line with President John Dramani Mahamas pledge for a consultative forum to deal with the wage bill and its disparity to productivity by public sector workers during this years May Day celebrations. To him, much as the discussion on the sustainability of the Single Spine pay policy and the challenges posed to economic management and development was important, the essential thing right now is "solutions" "What are the concrete measures being used to address this issue?" he asked. We are either part of the solution or part of the problem because if you use the same mind-set in creating the problem to solve the problem, you get no solution and so we should move away and be honest to ourselves he advised.
