Teenager Spends Stolen Cash Lavishly

The Agona Swedru District Magistrates Court, presided over by Mr Kwaku Baah Frempong, last Tuesday heard the story of a 13-year-old boy who broke into a store at Agona Swedru through the ceiling and stole GH10,000. The court was further told how the boy and his alleged accomplice, also of the same age, (now at large) later spent a huge chunk of their booty lavishly. Apart from the lavish spending, the two also hired two taxis in which they had a jolly ride around town with a 15-year-old girl and others and later ended up in a hotel where they slept with the girls in turns. Consequently, while the court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the alleged accomplice, it has also remanded the teenage boy in prison custody pending further investigations. Mr Frempong, however, granted a GH200 bail each to Bentum Mohammed, a businessman, the 15-year-old girl, Abiba Sumaila, a drinking bar operator, Nana Acquah-Sampson, a security man, and Richard Asan-Otoo, a receptionist for benefitting from the stolen cash. Mohammed received GH850; the 15-year-old GH100; Sumaila, GH300; Acquah-Sampson, GH100, and Asan-Otoo, GH68, from the teenager for which they are to answer charges of dishonestly receiving. The teenager is to face charges of conspiracy, unlawful entry and stealing while his female accomplices are to answer charges of defilement of the young boys in a hotel room.
