Ghanaians have been urged to respect the 1992 Constitution and abide by its provisions at all times. "If we live by this instruction, we would be able to hold together, no matter what happens," the Very Reverend Paa Solomon Grant-Essilfie, General Manager of the Methodist Education Unit-Ghana, gave the advice in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Tema on Sunday, during the 40th Anniversary celebration, of the Bethel Methodist Church, Tema. Rev Grant-Essilfie, who touched on the election petition brought before the Supreme Court by the main opposition New Patriotic Party against the declaration of the Electoral Commission of Mr John Dramani Mahama of the ruling National Democratic Party as President in the 2012 General Election, said: "We have co-existed peacefully as one people for a long time. We can easily continue the same way if we respect the laws of the land." He urged institutions mandated to handle the aftermath of the verdict to act above reproach, adding that this is most needed, to sustain trust in Ghanaians. In a sermon to grace the occasion on the theme:, "Bethel at 40, Present and the Way Forward in Witnessing to Christ," Rev Grant Essilfie said 40 years is a significant age in the life of any entity, typified by progressive change.
