Following public outcry at the unhygienic conditions under which animals are slaughtered for public consumption at Avenor, a suburb of Accra, the Metro Public Health Department of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, and the Food and Drugs Authority have in the past few weeks been conducting unannounced visits to the venue to ensure that the right thing is done to protect the public from consuming contaminated meat.
