Former Member of Parliament for the Ahafo-Ano South Constituency has strongly disagreed with calls from a section of the general public for the dismissal of Hon. Victoria Hammah for �bringing disgrace onto the government�. Hon. Steven Balado Manu opines that other highly placed figures in the country have brought shame to government in like manner but are still at post. �I don�t think this warrants a dismissal. It is more an embarrassment to her person than to government. Oko Vanderpuije has disgraced this government equally...and in a much worse manner. Yet, he is still going around as Mayor. If there is anybody who has to be sacked for embarrassing the government, Dr. Oko Vanderpuije is the person who must go. ..he said he was going to turn the railway terminal into a shopping mall but was countered by the Minister for Transport, Madam Ativor, who indicated that government, intends constructing a modern railway station (yet he did not receive any official dressing-down). From thence, he greatly demeaned government when he decided to rename this woman (Theodosia Okoh�s) hockey pitch�.� he said. The former parliamentarian, now a law student, made these comments on Citi Fm�s �Big Issues� programme during a discussion on what many consider as a huge faux pas by Victoria Hammah, the deputy Minister for Communications at the launch of a campaign against Cyber Crime in Ghana. A clearly unhappy Victoria Hammah refused to continue reading her official speech at the function, claiming what she had in her possession was an unedited piece; insisting she had edited the script the night before. She expressed frustration about the swapping of her edited speech with an unedited one and decided altogether to deliver her speech extempore. The former Asunafo-South MP was of the view that the best thing the deputy minister should have done was to have read through the speech before time and also not give any indication that she had the wrong script before her. He pointed out that the art of public speaking demands that one must rehearse what is to be read, know where to pause, where to raise the voice and where to bring down the voice for better communication. These qualities, Hon. Balado believes the young Deputy Minister �doesn�t have so she felt the best thing to do, was to lash it out on the speech writer. You are disgracing yourself. You are telling the whole world that you didn�t author the speech and that doesn�t speak well of you�.
