A member of the communication team for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Anim Piesie has attributed the punishment meted out to Hopeson Adorye to the fact that Sir John holds a bigger position in the New Patriotic Party(NPP). According to him, Hopeson Adorye was lucky to have been tied up with Sir John on the same contemptuous charges because the various influential bodies in the country pleaded for Sir John for his position and influence in the NPP and to him it was that grace which fell on Hopeson Adorye. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that Sir John is not just a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but the General Secretary of one of the biggest political parties in the country; adding that the prayers which were said on Wednesday 14th August 2013 at the Supreme Court were directed to Sir John and not Hopeson Adorye who plays no major role in the NPP. He further said that God helped Hopeson Adorye because he was never mentioned in the pleadings; in that in the ruling of the Presiding Judge, Justice William Atuguba, it was said that Hopeson Adorye was nobody as compared to Sir John who has 32-years standing in law and the General Secretary of the NPP. He however slammed that Sir John should have served as a good role model for the young people in the NPP; adding that as a General Secretary he should have known how to conduct himself in public and not to be tagged with as a contemnor. He recounted that the bad conduct of Sir John prior to the 2012 election petition motivated the likes of Hopeson Adorye and Sammy Awuku to behave likewise which nearly landed them in a bad situation in their political careers. He therefore advised all the communicators of all the political parties to be circumspect with their utterances in as much as they want to show loyalty to their parties; stressing that the influence and position of Sir John in NPP saved Hopeson Adorye. He seized the moment to applaud the exceptional performance of Lawyer Nii Ayikoi Otoo, saying that he has exhibited an attitude which other lawyers must begin to practice; in that lawyers must not only portray what they study in school but must use their antics in certain case to advise their clients.
