It is an undeniable fact that the two leading political parties in Ghana, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) may appear in the eyes of the public as bitter rivals, who would wish the downfall of the other. But a leading member of the opposition party has sought to discount that notion. Former NPP Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, claims he witnessed members of the ruling party offering supplications to God on behalf of embattled Chief Scribe of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, who was hauled before the Supreme Court on Wednesday for making presumptuous comments. �In fact whiles he (Sir John) was in the dock, I saw some NDC faithfuls praying for him but these are some of the things Ghanaians do not normally see. But as a politician, I know that most of the time, when we mount the campaign platform, we exaggerate a lot but I consider it as antics and techniques peculiar to our profession�. �Just as lawyers use technical words that would not make sense to the layman that is how it is in politics,� he explained. The former law maker made these assertions on Adom Fm, during a discussion on the events that unfolded in court on Wednesday, which ended with Sir John being slapped with a GhC 5000 fine and signing a bond to be of good behavior for the next six months. Kofi Ghana further advised Ghanaians not to take the words of politicians in its entirety because of the level of embellishment. �There is so much exaggeration in our profession to the extent that during elections, electorates are made to believe that after voting for a particular candidate, the nation would be transformed into Heaven,� he added.
