Ministers, Presidential Staffers To Brainstorm On State Of Economy

Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Presidential Staffer's and Appointee's would this weekend engage in another Presidential retreat to discuss extensively issues regarding the economy. Yesterday, Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur met with the Economic Policy Coordinating Committee to look at policy interventions introduced by government successes and challenges. A Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Murtala Mohammed, announced this at the daily media briefing at flagstaff house in Accra. He said as part of discussions to be held, sector ministers are encouraged to prepare their budget statements ahead of the 2014 budget. To further show that the economy is not broke as being speculated, Murtala Mohammed stated that for the first time last year, only five percent of project is in the 2012 budget were donor funded as compared to forty percent in the previous years. He noted that it is a proof that the economy is improving and becoming less dependent on donor countries.
