Two Busted For Stealing On Local Flight

Two members of a syndicate who have been stealing from passengers traveling on local flights in the country were on Friday arrested at the Tamale airport in the Northern Region. According to sources at the airport, many passengers have been complaining about the loss of their money and electronic gadgets on local flights. Narrating the mode of operation of the syndicate, an official of one of the local airlines who spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity said, they (the thieves) purchase airline tickets of the airline that is available and then fly to the various regional destinations during which they carry out their operations. According to him, one of the passengers who was robbed indicated that �when he left his seat to use the washroom, by the time he got back, his money had been taken from his bag. He further explained that "the thieves are able to steal from passengers because people with more than one bag, usually place their bags beside them make it easy for them to steal from them.� He added that �presently they are at the military base, waiting for the police to arrive.� He said over GHC 70,000 and $1000 were found on the two, suspected to be Nigerians.
