SKYY Digital TV Goes National

The first Ghanaian private pay television provider, Skyy Digital TV, would now be transmitting nationwide, and even beyond to neighboring West African Countries and be rebranded as First Digital. The financial support for expansion and rebranding of SKYY Digital was provided by Ghana Growth Fund Company (GGFC). The good news to existing loyal Skyy Digital customers is that they would have an option to continue enjoying the existing service of 10 TV Channels in Accra Tema, Koforidua, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Sekondi-Takoradi for several months or upgrade by acquiring enhanced T2 Receivers to enjoy more TV Channels and FM Audio Channels. According to Wilson Arthur, the Chief Executive Officer of WSL, the new enhanced service would be rebranded as First Digital (in recognition of its pioneering role in digital TV in Ghana) and to match the new superior quality TV service it would be serving in few weeks from now. When contacted, the Managing Director of GGFC, Kwame Asomaning confirmed that his company is committed to providing financing for the digital televisions nationwide expansion project so Ghana could beat the June 2015 Global Digital migration deadline. According to Mr Asomaning, it is the core value of GGFC to provide financial solutions to local businesses in Ghana and other West African Countries to empower them to provide world standard services and to withstand international competition. This new investment is enhancing the capacity of WSL to provide Multiplexer Services to strategic Local and International Television and Radio Content Companies to deliver a bouquet of Media Service unparalleled in Ghana. We will truly become First in Ghana, said Mr Arthur. In few weeks time, First Digital would offer 25 TV channels, plus a number of radio stations to its subscribers on T2. First Digital bouquet would be doubled to 50 TV channels in due course. Mr Arthur disclosed that the dividends of this heavy investment in First Digital would be enjoyed by customers through the quality of TV signal, content value and stability of service.
