UTAG Calls For Firm Commitment From Government

The University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG, has called for firm commitment from government before their long month strike is called off. It said in the past, UTAG has signed a communique with top ranking ministers, but have not been fulfilled. Speaking on Uniiq Breakfast Drive, the President of the University of Ghana of UTAG, Dr. Lambo-Bimi, noted that the Association will only rescind its decision if government gives the go ahead for the payment process of their allowance to begin. Meanwhile, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission says it has played its part in the UTAG issue and the rest is left with the leadership of the Association to take over from there. Head of Public Affairs at the commission, Earl Ankrah, described as unfortunate accusations by UTAG, that the FESC is responsible for their prolonged strike.
