Leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kwabre West Constituency have decided to ban political activities and radio broadcast in the area in the run up to the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 presidential elections. According to the leaders of the two parties, the suspension of radio broadcast by �information centres� and wearing of party T-shirts and jubilation on the day of judgment and afterwards will go a long way to keep the peace in the area. The leaders took the decision at a peace talk held at Kodie on Sunday. Alhaji Osei Bosie, NDC constituency chairman and his counterpart, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, agreed to lead a campaign to persuade their members and supporters not to politically provoke each other. Odeneho Kwaku Appiah said it was important for �party followers to understand that Ghana was the only country for Ghanaians and no one should allow his or her behaviour to destroy the peace.� �Whatever the outcome may be, let us accept it in good faith�, adding that, whichever party was pronounced the winner should not violate the peace of the nation. He asked his party members to refrain from listening to social commentators and spin-doctors when the verdict is pronounced. Alhaji Bosie praised the leadership of the NPP for choosing judicial procedures to address the concerns they had on the elections. He also commended President Mahama for his conduct and attitude towards the petition. Alhaji Bosie said peace was vital in the aftermath of the petition to safeguard the unity of the nation. Mr Wilberfoce Zangina, District Director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) commended the leadership of the two parties for the initiative and said it demonstrated the beauty of democracy. Inspector J.K Mensah Kodie, Station Officer of the Ghana Police Service, asked the people to be of good behaviour and law-abiding.
