Investigations Underway In 'Sammy Awuku tape' - Police

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that investigations are underway in the alleged leaked tape which contains a voice purported to be that of NPP Deputy Communications Director Sammy Awuku attacking the integrity of the Supreme Court. The Public Relations Director of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, told Asempa FM on Tuesday that a copy of the tape has been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by government. According to him, the Ministry of Information handed over the tape which allegedly contains the voice of Mr Sammy Awuku attacking the integrity of the Supreme Court judges for investigations. DSP Cephas Arthur added that Sammy Awuku would be invited to assist in investigations when necessary. Mr Awuku, is alleged to have indicated during a meeting with NPP communicators in the United Kingdom that most of the judges on the Supreme Court case were favourable to the NPP. Although Mr Awuku has denied making such statements and claimed the tape was a fabrication, the Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr Felix Ofosu Kwakye, said at a press briefing Monday that government would obtain a copy of the tape and study its content.
