Regional Police Commands have been outlining security measures and preparedness ahead of Thursday's Supreme Court verdict. The various commands have established joint operational centres with other security agencies. Security personnel have been deployed to major national installations including banks, water and electricity stations. Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh debunked allegations that there is heightened tension in the area. He said it is the fear of the unknown that has created anxiety and not tension. The Public Relations officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Freeman Tettey, said his outfit will deploy personnel and logistics to key installations. He said there will be elaborate security for the Supreme Court. He said Headquarters of the political parties will also be covered. He cautioned rabble rousers that the police will deal decisively with them. Meanwhile, the Ashaiman Divisional Police Command has issued strict security guidelines to residents to follow in the days leading up to the Supreme Court verdict and thereafter. Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent David Eklu tells Radio Ghana that large gatherings, riding of motor bikes, tooting of car horns and display of party paraphernalia will not be entertained. He gave the assurance that the division is ready to deal with any eventuality. The Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Fred Kofi Agyapong-Asare has given assurance to the people of the region that they have no cause to worry in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 presidential election petition. He said the Police has identified all flash points in the region and has taken adequate measures to protect life and property.
