Alhaji Omar Bodinga, Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on party supporters to put the Supreme Court verdict behind them and work towards 2016.
�Let us put all what has happened behind us so that we can reorganise, restructure, and recapture power come 2016,� he said.
Alhaji Bodinga made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua on Friday.
He said it was unfortunate that the verdict went the other way adding: �There was disappointment and grief at the regional secretariat of the party when the verdict was read by Justice William Atuguba.�
Alhaji Bodinga, however, appealed to NPP supporters not to do anything untoward to tarnish the party�s image.
He also cautioned the youth to desist from demonstrations and other forms of protest against the ruling.
He urged party sympathisers and supporters to unite and desist from making statements that would create divisions among the rank and file of the party.
Ghana's Supreme Court on Thursday, August 29, ruled that President John Dramani Mahama was validly elected and in a majority decision dismissed the petitioners� case.
The petitioners included Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 2012 Presidential candidate of the NPP, his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, NPP National Chairman.
