Appiah Welcomes Competition In Stars Camp

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah has welcomed competition in his team ahead Fridays crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Kumasi. The battle for places in the Stars set up has become keener following the return of Michael Essien, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew for the ultimate Group D encounter. The three players are making a return to the team after varied periods out, with Essien and Boateng set to make their first appearance under Appiah. For Appiah, the presence of the three players provides him with more options, which he said is a good sign for any team. It is always good to have competition in your team just as having a good bench. The Stars trainer admitted to no selection headaches in his quest to parade the best team for the crucial encounter. I have no selection headaches. It is good for every player to fight and give his best at training. We have just started preparations and after sometime, I will have a fair idea of each player. Appiah remains convinced his charges will come out tops against the Chipolopolos and book their place at the final leg of the qualification series. The Zambians won the reverse fixture by a lone goal; and the Stars need at least a draw to go through to the final round.
