I Won't Retract My Comments Gabby Otchere Darko

The Executive Director for the Danquah Institute, Gabby Otchere -Darko has said he will not retract his statements made about the Supreme Court's verdict on the election petition case saying it was not a statement of criticism. According to him, if criticizing a judgement undermines the credibility of the judgement, then the country might as well just forget about democracy. The Director of the Ghana Institute for Public Policy Options, Dr Wereko Brobbey has written to the General Legal Council asking the leadership of the body to sanction Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata and Gabby Otchere Darko for their comments on the given by the Supreme Court. But speaking on Eye Witness News, Mr Otchere-Darko said Wereko Brobby is just a Ghanaian who is very concerned about the way some concerned citizens are exercising their right to speak their minds. He just wants to stop us from speaking. He is however entitled to his views and his opinions. Why do people have the perception that a judgement cannot be corrupt? Why should I be charged for describing a judgement as corrupt? Meanwhile, a former deputy Attorney General Kwame Osei Prempeh has indicated that Wereko Brobby has every right to make a complaint to the General Legal Council since every citizen is entitled to such privileges. The law says any person including you and I can make a complaint to the General Legal Council about the misconduct of a lawyer or any other citizen."
