President Mahama's Award Is Sign Of Brotherhood

Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, said the conferment of Benins highest national award on President John Dramani Mahama was an indication of the strength of relations between the two countries. The Minister, who spoke to the GNA in an interview at the KIA when President Mahama and his entourage arrived from a two-day official visit to Lome, said the award was in recognition of President Mahamas efforts in deepening democracy in Ghana, adding that it also signified the bond of friendship and brotherhood that the two presidents and their countries share. He said the President briefly visited Lome where he and his counterpart held discussions on various subjects including the Sogakope Water Project which would provide water for Ghana and other neighboring countries, development of infrastructure to link Ghana and Togo, increasing bilateral trade and how to collaborate to address the illegal timber logging. The President went to Benin where discussions with President Yayi Boni centered mainly on energy and how to deepen the bilateral collaboration between both countries. Other topics covered included youth employment and health insurance, met the Ghanaian community in Benin and visited some facilities including its port and the 100-megawatt power generation plant.
