The intense clamour for either Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or Alan Kyerematen by some bigwigs in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to lead the party in the 2016 presidential polls has been described by an outspoken NPP activist as �pathetic�. The Assin Central NPP MP believes it�s premature for such discussions to emanate from the party after the Supreme Court recently dismissed all petitions before them filed by the NPP, citing irregularities during the 2012 general election. According to him, instead of searching for a �better candidate� to lead the NPP in 2016, the party should rather focus on how to regain power in 2016. The outspoken legislator nonetheless pledged to support whoever the party elects to lead the elephant fraternity in 2016 as far as the person�s credibility can win the presidential seat for the NPP. Speaking on Asempa FM, the NPP fire brand rubbished those using age as a factor to disqualify potential candidate for the flagbearer contest ahead of 2016 votes. �All we (NPP) want is unity and everybody has his own right to contest. So what makes a 63-year-old person unfit to contest as a presidential candidate? I am not interested in those things. All I want to see is that, our party (NPP) is in power and Ghanaians are comfortable. ��So I don�t care who comes so long as the person has the potential to lead the party and the country to help the less privilege. As for their ambitions, I don�t want to know. You can become a leader of the party when there is unity,� he stressed.
