The National Coordinator of the Baptist Men�s Ministry, the Reverend Emmanuel Ato Abban, has said it was important for society to accept back ex-convicts and end their isolation and stigmatization.
He said ex-convicts deserved sympathy, encouragement and support to prevent a return to their bad ways.
Rev Abban said the situation where even close family members refuse to have anything doing with them, erecting barriers to turn them into virtual outcasts, is certainly unhelpful to their reformation and re-integration into society.
The Rev Abban said this when the Men�s Fellowship of the Ayigya Victory Baptist Church worshipped with inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons on Sunday.
He urged Christians to do more to bring hope to prisoners and assist them to give up on crime and other evils.
The Fellowship presented bags of rice and sugar, sachet water, edible oil, toilet and washing soap, loaves of bread and used clothing in support of their upkeep.
Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Francis Appau, Assistant Welfare Officer at the Prisons, said they were grateful for the gifts.
