NPP Should Not Deceive Nana- Ashitey-Adjei

An executive member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tema East, on Monday called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to respect the decision of the partys 2012 flag bearer to take leave of politics. Mr Stephen Ashitey- Adjei said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addos desire to take a long rest away from mainstream politics is being violated by countless number of people who flock his Nima residence on daily basis to put pressure on him to reverse his decision. I dont understand why some members and supporters of the NPP are doing that, he told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra. Mr Ashitey-Adjei said Nana Akufo-Addo is a matured and shrewd politician and I believe he reflected on his decision before going public with it. Those forcing him to reverse his decision are not doing him any good, he noted. Mr Ashitey also asked people in the NDC who have started discussing who should lead the party to contest the 2016 general election to stop the debate because it is inimical to the interest of the government. He said what is more important now is how far the NDC takes the Better Ghana Agenda, to convince the electorate to renew their mandate in 2016. Such a debate is dangerous and mischievous and the earlier it is nib in the bud, the better, he said.
