Some members of the youth wing of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Upper West Region have appealed to Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, Press Secretary to former President John Agyekum Kufuor, to contest the General-Secretary position of the Party. The spokesman for the youth group, Mr. Abubakari Mujeeb, told a press conference on Monday that they foresaw Mr. Agyepong as a person who would bring new life and energy into the Party. He said they intended to support individuals who had the capacity to �hold people spell bound with deep and captivating analysis of pertinent issues concerning our great party and dear nation.� According to the group the Party�s General Secretary should be someone who should think through issues before speaking and not the reverse. �We find such a person in Mr. Agyepong and would very much appreciate his acceptance of this enviable challenge to salvage the fortunes of the Party from the doldrums� The group criticized utterances of the Party�s General Secretary, Mr Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, and said they could not afford to retain him any longer otherwise the Party should be prepared to wallow in perpetual opposition.
