Sammy Awuku: Corruption Is Like A Sticker At The Back Of The NDC

Former Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, says the protest march by Junior Nurses and Midwives of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital over unpaid salaries and allowances for almost two years (21 months) and the recent tariff increment shows how careless the Mahama led administration is towards Ghanaians He described the hardship that Ghanaians are going through under the present administration as unbearable. According to him, government only wants to push the aggrieved junior nurses into prostitution if it (government) does not pay the nurses their salaries since that might be the only way to earn income. For two years without payment, what do you want them (Nurses and Midwives) to do? he questioned. Speaking on Adom FM, Sammy Awuku, who is aspiring for the position of National Youth Organizer, added that the youth of the country are now dispirited, disoriented and disenchanted under the Mahama-led administration. Corruption is like a sticker at the back of the NDC. And they dont care. For now the only solution is to pray and fast. And I pray that Ghana can survive under this NDC government, he said. Meanwhile, the Junior Nurses have returned to work following the payment of their salary for the month of September. Spokesperson for the nurses, Diana Marfo, who confirmed the payments as promised by the hospitals administration, said that the nurses have returned to work. At 4 O'clock most of us were called yesterday (Tuesday), we were called to come for the cheques. So those of us who were around, were able to go for theirs and those who were not there, have received theirs this morning (Wednesday), she said. She revealed that they would meet the management of the hospital in a months time to discuss the payment plan for the remaining 20 months.
