More Utility Tariff Increments Coming Soon - NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked Ghanaians to brace themselves for additional increases in utility tariff since the recent increment was only the first part of a much larger intended increase The Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) announced new increments in electricity and water tariffs by 78.9 percent and 52 percent respectively. This was effected on October 1, 2013. According to the NPP, the justification by government that the tariff increment was necessary to help build needed infrastructure of utility companies was too stale, too over flogged, and too ridiculous to be believed It further stated that the generators of utilities must be helped to at least break even if they were sure they were producing the products as efficiently as possible, devoid of any corrupt practices.
