Alex Mould Assumes Office At GNPC

Alexander Kofi-Mensah Mould, the newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), assumed duty on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Alex Mould, who takes over from Nana Boakye Asafu-Adjaye, met the management and staff of the national oil company on his first day in a meeting that staff described as a �happy re-union,� as he had previously worked with the national oil company. Prior to his appointment to the current position, Mr. Mould was the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), a position he held from April 2009 till September 30, 2013. Mr. Mould comes to office with over 20 years� experience in leadership positions in the downstream petroleum industry, as well as financial sector institutions. He has worked in multinational financial institutions in New York and Accra. He has over a decade of experience in refining, crude oil and petroleum products supply and trading and risk management after serving as Special Assistant (Marketing) to the CEO of GNPC from October 1985 � September 1994. The new GNPC boss joined Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in 1995 in New York as a client relationship manager from Bankers Trust Company, where he worked as an investment banker in the energy merchant bank. He also worked with the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), New York as Senior Associate responsible for structured trade finance business in Latin America from March 1997 to June 1999. Alex Mould became Associate Director, Commodity Finance of Standard Chartered Bank, New York from June 1999 till March 2001 when he returned to Ghana to be responsible for developing structured trade/export finance business in West Africa. Alex Mould holds an MBA in Finance, Accounting and Decision Science from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School, Northwestern University, Illinois, USA (1994); a Post-Graduate Diploma in Oil Marketing and Economics from College of Petroleum Studies Oxford (1989) and a BSc., Chemical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology (UST), Kumasi which he obtained in 1985.
