I Will Kill You Police Commander Threatens Youth

A document glanced by The Independent has revealed that Sylvester Daddie, the District Chief Executive of Jomoro and DSP Ferguson Dzineku, the District Police Commander of Jomoro have vowed to eliminate any stumbling block and recalcitrant individuals who form any mushroom youth associations in Bonyere. The document captioned, Violation Of Fundamental Human Rights And Freedom And Abuse Of Powers By The Jomoro DCE And District Police Commander mentions that the attitudinal dispositions of some public officials in the Jomoro district appear to thwart the developmental efforts of Bonyere. Members of a youth group calling itself Concerned Citizens Association are not happy with the two officials because they (the members) believe the two are the cause of their internal wrangling. The members thinking the two have violent tendencies which will not auger well for the development of Jomoro. The DCE and the Police Commander also see the association as a thorn in their flesh. The two think, the members of the association are formidable in thwarting development in the area. I will not allow any association to be formed at Bonyere so far as I remained the DCE of Jomoro, Mr. Daddie has allegedly fumed. Every letter written against me will eventually end up at my office therefore I am not afraid of anybody he added in the document chanced upon by The Independent. The group cited the actions of the District Police Commander as worsening the pitch of the case by allegedly saying, whoever forms any association, I will not allow the person so far as I remain the commander in the District, and whoever dares me, I will shoot to kill you. They issued a document accusing the DCE and the District Police Commander of illegally performing the role of kingmakers by installing and imposing one Francis Romanus Adgoka Aloo as Nana Nyamekye Annor, the chief of Bonyere amidst some pending disputes over the chieftaincy title in the community. The group noted the dispute was pending at the Appeals Court of Justice at Cape Coast and the Regional House of chiefs at Sekondi for settlement. The group noted that indicated after they (the DCE and Police Commander) had succeeded in bringing all the youth denominations of the town under a single umbrella, the two, on September 13, 2013, issued threats to dissolve any further activities in the community. According to them, both officials have contravened Article 21 clause 1 section (e) of the 1992 constitution that recognizes and legalize their existence and operation. The group said, the DCE lured the Jomoro Assembly to issue a statement indicating Bonyere and its environs would ever see any new developmental projects from them because of their negative posture. Hence, Article 14 clause 2 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana which stipulates that a person shall not be discriminated against on grounds of ethnic origin, religion, creed or social or economic status has been violated, the statement noted. The Concerned Citizens Association are calling on the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Western Regional Minister, the Regional Police Commander, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Minister for Local Government, and Ghana Ant-Corruption Coalition, to as a matter of urgency, intervene in order to maintain decorum in the community.
