The Will Of God Prevailed At NPP NEC Meeting

Stephen Asamoah Boateng, one of the leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who strongly kicked against the proposal that sitting NPP Members of Parliament should be allowed to go unopposed in the partys primaries ahead of the 2016 elections, has attributed the decision by the National Executive Council (NEC) to summarily dismiss the idea as the will of God. According to the former MP for Mfantseman West, the decision would bring peace and it is the doing of the Lord that such a conclusion was arrived at. Yesterday (on Thursday), the will of God prevailed and the peace we have been looking for in the party has come. What we did was a stance we took where all the opinion of members were heard. It was all for the good of the party because I was of the conviction that the direction in which we were taking was not right that is why I christened the meeting as a preemptive sight. as for the top-down approach which was proposed,They must come out with a timetable so as to inform party faithfuls on when polling station, constituency, region and national elections would be held before we move onto the flag bearer, he explained. Sharing his thoughts on the NEC meeting on Okay Fms Ade akye abia, Hon. Asanoah Boateng further advised all party members not only to voice their grievances or suggestions but also send written petitions to the party leadership indicating their opinions. His remark comes on the heels of an assembly of the NEC of the largest opposition party on Thursday, 3rd October, 2013. The meeting was held to discuss many pressing issues with regards to the NPP, including the proposal of a bottom-up approach to internal party elections. But a decision on whether the party should go for an early congress was deferred to next week.
