Top Down Approach Will Be Chaotic For NPP Balado Manu

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South, Stephen Balado Manu says the proposal by the Steering Committee of the party to elect a flagbearer before all other party executives are elected is a recipe for potential problems. According to him, the top down proposal the party seeks to adopt may lead to serious crisis. NPP is an organization that must be run as a modern organization. The top down approach in management, decision making, leadership theories are being pushed to the background," he said. Speaking on Citi FMs news analysis programme, The Big Issue, Mr Balado Manu said the norm today is the bottom up approach, because in decision making the foundation should be from the grass root upwards. If we are able to conduct formidable elections and elect serious minded leaders at the polling station and constituency levels then we move to the regional level, then to national to elect party executives and then from there the flagbearer The former MP further stated that once the people at the bottom shared in electing him [flagbearer], they will care to campaign for him. I am for the bottom up approach in electing our leaders at all levels of the party, he reiterated. Mr Balado Manu also said the NPP is a microcosm of the society, hence cannot be run differently. the society is not run like that; even in our traditional setting before a chief is elected, the king makers make sure the sub-chiefs are in place. You cannot elect the chief before you come to elect the linguist and the others He asked the party executives to maintain the bottom up approach, as has been the case.
