TAF Deceived Us - Police Administration

The police administration has stated that it may consider charging the Truth and Accountability Forum (TAF), the organizers of the Yentua demonstration for causing financial loss to the police administration. I am really disappointed because I had to bring all these people [Police Officers] there because since we can't assume that demonstrations can be peaceful through out, a lot of resources were committed, the Director of Operations at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Sylvester Buoyu said. According to the police, they were deceived by TAF that 5000 people were going to be present for the demonstration, only to find just about twenty five people. Speaking to Citi News the Director of Operations at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Sylvester Buoyu stated that although they were told by the organizers that there would be about 2000 men for the demonstration, they mobilized more men based on a radio interview that the organizers had. When they came to the office, they said they were going to mobilize as many as 2000 men onto the streets, so we were preparing to bring men to cover approximately 2000 men only for me to hear on radio yesterday that they were bringing as many as 5000 men and it alarmed me further. So we committed more people, he added. Chief Superintendent Sylvester Buoyu further adviced that the police administration consider siting the organizers for causing financial loss to the Police Service. They have lied to the police service and the people of Ghana because if they had told us that there are with just about 25 people, we would have send police personnel who will be commiserate to the people within that demonstration he indicated.
