Dr. Bawumia Is An Economic Soothsayer..He Predicted NDCs Economic Mismanagement 9 Months Ago

Former NPP Chairman for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Michael Omari Wadie believes the admission of economic challenges by the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper indicates that Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is a great economic forecaster. According to him, Dr Bawumia predicted the economic repercussion that the country was likely to suffer because of the NDCs poor management of the economy some 9 months ago. The World Bank, in a report released a few months ago, cautioned Ghana against its rising debt, which it says has the tendency to stifle the countrys economic growth and deepen poverty. Ghanas debt currently stands at GHc43.9 billion (49.5 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)) at the end of August 2013. The economy of Ghana is still facing liquidity challenges, with both revenue receipts and expenditure falling below their targets, nine months into the year. Meanwhile the 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, exactly nine months ago described the path and manner in which the Ghanaian economy is being managed as unsustainable. In an article first published on his Facebook page on 19th February 2013, Dr. Bawumia, a former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana indicated that the NDC government had made economic history by recording the highest budget deficit in the history of the country in 2012 and noted that the record deficit was an indicator of how poor the economy had been managed in the past four years. Sounding a notice of hard times ahead, the renowned economist stated that the consequences of the poor management of Ghana's finance, mounting public debt and record borrowing would fall disproportionately on Ghanaians already suffering with cost of living expected to rise sharply. In view of Dr. Bawumias prediction on Ghanas economy nine months ago, which marries with the current World Bank report, Michael Omari Wadie on Okay Fm averred that the 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of NPP has been exonerated in his report about the future of Ghanas economy. When Dr. Bawumia predicted what might happen to our economy with the poor way the NDC government is managing the economy, the NDC insulted him for saying the doom which will happen in the future if nothing is done about itthis is why I like him because he is an economic soothsayer who predicted this consequences nine months ago before the World Bank's report on Ghanas economy, he said..
