Club 100 Feat To Spur Us Onto Quality, Pan African Expansion Rlg

Rlg Communications Group says its emergence at the apex of the countrys top 100 companies has placed huge responsibility on it to improve quality and drive its pan-African growth and expansion agenda in the coming years. Companys Chief Executive, Roland Agambire told Journalists in Accra, the company has no choice than to scale up investments into crucial areas such as research, development as well as the development of new markets on the continent. We are striving to be a pan African brand. Our new position in the current rankings as well as the dictates of the ever-growing market require us not to compromise on quality, most importantly, as we enter different countries, he told reporters. The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) over the weekend awarded the Rlg Communications the number 1 slot in its latest rankings of the top 100 businesses in Ghana at a ceremony in Accra attended by the business and diplomatic communities, ministers of state and former President Rawlings and his wife. The rankings are an annual assessment of companies operating in Ghana using overall growth, profits and taxes among others. Rlg Communications is credited to have been first company to assemble mobile phones, computers and accessories almost a decade ago and is said to have extended its operations to a number of countries including Kenya, the Gambia, Nigeria, Angola, Rwanda, China and Dubai. The company is also said to have pioneered the Youth-in-ICT programme, later to be adapted by the then national youth employment programme, now GYEEDA, churning out thousands of youth who are taught computer programming, software, hardware, repairs, assembling and entrepreneurship. We do not only assemble products, we also provide services such as training, security and IT supports. Our major strength has been our training capabilities which have made it possible for us to train significant number of young people using 46 and more centres dotted across the country, in Ghana alone, he explained. Mr Agambire dedicated the awards to Ghanaians for believing in the brand, the products and the services, but was quick to recall that most of the fine brands around today started with difficulties. We are going through it but as was done in those countries, deliberate patronage or what I call patriotism brought them this far as global brand and we can do same. Rlg was a major supporter of just-ended Big Brother Africa reality show on DSTV a platform the company found convenient for the promotion of its pan African agenda. It currently has two ultra-modern assembly plants in Accra, Ghana and in Banjul, the Gambia and a third plant is almost in completion in the Nigerian state of Osun where it runs a Youth ICT Project for the state government. Rlg moved from No 2 on the Ghana Club 100 rankings in 2011 to its current number 1 place. In the previous year, the GIPC also awarded Rlg as Leader in the ICT Sector. The GC 100 rankings are an annual initiative by the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC) to honour companies that excelled in their various areas of operations in the previous fiscal year. It was introduced in 1998 and has since become an enviable event that corporate Ghana looks up to on an annual basis.
