"BUNAS" To Inject Dynamism In The NDC

Mr Abdul Nasir Saani, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) businessman, on Wednesday appealed to the leadership and supporters of the party to inject dynamism into its rank and file. This, he suggested, could be done by voting into power new executive members to remove the "Methuselah" leaders who had over the years ran out of ideas that would propel the party to retain power in 2016. Mr Saani, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on the future of the NDC, also expressed his readiness to contest for the position of Regional Chairman in the Upper West Region. He said there was bitterness and dissatisfaction among the foot soldiers of the party due to marginalization and that if voted to power, he would galvanize support among the youth to provide strong party structures at the base that would give them a brighter future. Mr Saani also advocated the expansion of the Electoral College for the selection of Constituency, Regional, Parliamentary and Presidential Candidates of the Party. He explained that the expansion of the Electoral College would also rope-in more party faithful to participate in decision-making, adding, "The masses in the Party will feel belonging in the development and growth of the Party." The businessman promised to run a transparent and accountable leadership, if the people of the Upper West Region elect him as the next regional Chairman of the NDC. He said: "The past leaders have done their best but politics in the modern days need dynamism and this is exactly what I promise NDC members in the Upper West Region if they vote for me as their Regional Chairman." Mr Saani commended President John Dramani Mahama for initiating the move to meet all the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives who were not re-appointed into office. The move, in his view, would not only promote unity among party members but would also strengthen the structures as the 'disappointed' members would be willing to lend their support to the current leaders.
