Effah Dartey Must Throw In The Towel, Before He Gets Humiliated

In every community there is a class of people profoundly dangerous to the rest. I dont mean the criminals. For them we have punitive sanctions. I mean the leaders. Invariably, the most dangerous people who seek power. Saul Bellow, 1976 Nobel Prize Winner. Those vying for the National leadership position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), especially the General Secretary position are either already campaigning or are yet to publicly declare their intention. So far, the only person, who has publicly launched his campaign, is the good old Captain Nkrabeah Effah Dartey, who was disqualified from contesting to lead the party in the 2008 elections. Perhaps he has counted his losses, and believes that if Sir John, could also be a General Secretary why not him. This is not withstanding the pronouncements from the partys General Secretary, Kwawdo Owusu Afriyie, alias Sir John that he is interested in retaining his position. Whoever gave Sir John the idea that he is still relevant in our political discourse, has done him more harm than good, because, like his mentor Nana Addo has overstayed his welcome. He has been nothing to the NPP, but a political disaster. The party primaries in the context of the NPP, money and contacts determine who carries the day. I am wondering which side Captain Nkrabeah belongs to. There is no denial of the fact that the party is divided between former President, John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the twice failed Presidential candidate. Anybody desirous of leading the party must identify with one of the two leading giants of the party. Between a would-be and have been, who is more likely to give you the needed victory, I think Kufuor is. But trust Sir John who does not look at the big picture to pitch his camp with Nana Addo. I think somebody should advice Nkrabeah Efa Dartey, to throw in the towel, before he gets humiliated. Some game or if you will positions are meant for some people. He is a good and experience lawyer, no doubt about that, but leading a political party, I doubt if he has the capacity and the sympathy. Sir John has finally confirmed my suspicion and long held view that he would be his best, when he joins the likes of Lil Wane, Agya Koo, Akrobeto etc to entertain Ghanaians. He has a bigger and important role to play at Kumawood, rather than being a General Secretary of the largest opposition political party in Ghana. Sir John told XYZ News that although he wouldnt be complacent about the stakes, he is highly confident that he is the man to beat. It theres anybody to be beaten, its me Sir John, but I can assure you that theres only one champion and that is Sir John, Sir John said. According to him, Ghanaians from all walks of life [and] party people believe in my leadership and they believe that I have worked very hard and that they will renew the mandate. I have no doubt at all about that. This is so hilarious; I could not control myself after reading the story. Who deceived Sir John that Ghanaians from all walks of life and his party people believe in his leadership. Wonders, indeed they say shall never end. Tickling yourself to laughter is something we can all do and the Sir of Junks is certainly caught in his own comic play. Our elders have a saying that if your mother is dead and you say she is sleeping, it is up to you. A story is told of a young mosquito, which went out for the first time, when it returned, it told the parents that a lot of people were clapping for it. The parents told the young mosquito that the people you met outside clapping for you only wanted you dead, they were not praising you. This could be liken to the story of Sir John, who believes that the calls for him to contest again, was borne out of love and confidence in his leadership. Unfortunately it is the same whirlwind that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the twice failed Presidential candidate of the NPP, who has to pass the baton of leadership to the next generation, has found himself. Sir John like Nana Addo is living in a fairy tale world and it is not healthy for men of their age. Imagine Nana Addo being the President of the country, and is confronted with the economic problems President John Mahama is facing now, dont you think Nana Addo, will pass onto glory. Ghanaians have had enough of his theatrics and lack of commonsense. The worst and perhaps the biggest mistake the Delegates of the NPP will do to their party and Ghanaians is to foist someone like Sir John on us again, after his term characterized with buffoonery ends. He is a bad example to the youth of this country. Politicians in this country are losing the confidence Ghanaians have in them, because of individuals like Sir John. Politics is a serious business, as the destinies of people are placed in your hands. Any wrong move on the part of a politician could spell doom for millions of people. Sir John is not cut for the job of being a General Secretary. Many names have come up for the position of the General Secretay and so far apart from Nkrabeah Effah Dartey, Sir John cant stand the likes of Kwabena Agyepong, a former spokesperson of President John Agyekum Kufuor or Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, who lost to him in the last elections, because NPP Delegates did not know what they were voting for. Mr Stephen Kwaku Baladu Manu, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South, has also declared his intention to contest for the position of the General Secretary. If I was a Delegate, I will vote for Kwabena Agyepong, as he is the best candidate among the pack.
