Kwabena Agyapong Launches Campaign To Unseat Sir John

Ex President Kufuors former Press Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, has launched his bid to contest the General Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming Congress. Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, Kwabena Agyepong said "I believe my record in public service is there for all to see, am dedicated in uniting our party because the things that unite us far supersedes the few things that divides us He added that our Party has been taking some propaganda bashing from our opponents but every true patriot knows that we are the party that governs better and perhaps it is time for us to learn how to win elections as well. below is a copy of the full statement TOGETHER WE CAN RISE AGAIN Ladies and Gentlemen of the media gathered here, Good morning, and many thanks for your presence. I have invited you here this morning, to officially announce my decision to contest for the position of General Secretary of our great party the New Patriotic Party (NPP). As most of you might be aware, Im currently in the state of mourning due to the sad loss of my dear mother a couple of weeks ago and as a mark of respect for her I will defer active campaigning till she has been laid to rest on the 7th of December 2013. However it has become necessary for me to make this public declaration to confirm my intention and reassure our party faithful that Im ready and willing to serve our tradition by putting myself up for election during the upcoming congress to be held in March 2014. I deem it a great honor to address this short message to the dedicated and hardworking patriots of our party through whose efforts our tradition has survived the vagaries of the recent political history of our country. I am offering myself for election as GS anchored in the belief that the NPP needs a leadership that is intensely action-oriented, passionately mission-minded, very demanding of results and is prepared to chase progress. I say this in all humility, I am equipped to provide that sort of leadership that will restore the party as a genuinely united force and make it possible for us to go back to our roots and ensure the party machinery at the grass-root level is resourced and well-oiled to prosecute an effective campaign to recapture power in 2016. Victory has eluded us in somewhat trying circumstances the last two elections. Admittedly, we cannot reverse the past but we can always learn from it and this is why there is the need to do things differently. The spirit of service, sacrifice and selflessness, should be the fulcrum around which the partys organizational and grass-root mobilization will revolve. Mine is a strong desire to serve the party with a clear conscience, pure motives and a solid character premised on COMPETENCE COMPASSION COMMITMENT AND COURAGE. A leadership that Understands people, Loves people and Helps people. As I indicated earlier for obvious reasons I will end here. Thank you very much for coming and may the almighty God continue to shower His divine blessings on our dear nation, Ghana. NPP WILL BE BACK.
