NPP Will Surely Be Back Kwabena Agyapong

Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Agyapong has revived hope of the party faithfuls, assuring them that the "NPP will be back", come 2016. He, however, stressed that the NPP needs to restructure itself in order to clinch victory. Addressing a section of the media at the Ghana International Press Centre where he officially announced his decision to contest for his new position, Hon. Kwabena Agyapong implored the party leaders to be "action-oriented, passionately mission-minded" and prepared to chase the party's progress. "Victory has eluded us in somewhat trying circumstances the last two elections. Admittedly, we cannot reverse the past but we can always learn from it and this is why there is the need to do things differently. The spirit of service, sacrifice and selflessness should be fulcrum around which the party's organizational and grass-root mobilization will revolve." Making his public declaration at the function, Mr. Agyapong who is in the contest with the current Chief Scribe of the party, Lawyer Kwadwo Afriyie and others such as Nkrabea Effah-Dartey and Yaw Buaben Asamoah, pledged his commitment to unify the party so as to become a formidable force on the political landscape. "...it has become necessary for me to make this public declaration to confirm my intention and reassure our party faithful that I'm ready and willing to serve our tradition by putting myself up for election during the upcoming congress to be held in March 2014. "I say this in all humility. I am equipped to provide that sort of leadership that will restore the party as a genuinely united force and make it possible for us to go back to our roots and ensure the party machinery at the grass-root level is resourced and wel-oiled to prosecute an effective campaign to recapture power in 2016...Mine is a strong desire to serve the party with a clear conscience, pure motives and a solid character premised on competence, compassion, commitment and courage. A leadership that understands people, love people and helps people." Meanwhile, he has indicated his decision to halt campaign in honour of his late mother's funeral.
