Dr (Mrs.) Ernestina Naadu Mills, former First Lady on Tuesday appealed to Ghanaians to commit themselves to the principles and standards of the Bible to obtain earthly comfort. She noted that the Bible addresses many challenges including inter-ethnic and communal conflicts, poverty, diseases, reconciliation and developing sound human capital for national development. Mrs. Mills made the appeal when she distributed 2,497 New Living Translation edition of the Holy Bible to students at the Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC) in Sunyani. It was part of the former First Lady�s Senior High School Bible Project instituted in 2009 to provide and encourage students to read the Bible. Under the project, Tyndale House Publishers in the United States of America is providing 500,000 Bibles estimated at about GHC10,000,000 for free distribution to students. Mrs. Mills observed that in addition to the spiritual growth and development, there was much benefit from using and following closely the guidelines and instructions in the Bible. �Indeed the Bible is a precious resource and useful to teach mankind what is true and realize what is wrong in our lives,� she added. The former First Lady advised the students not only to read the Bible but ensured that they memorized, meditated, obeyed and practised whatever they learnt to secure their future. Mrs. Mills said her own personal encounter with the Bible was significant, because it had transformed her life. She expressed appreciation to Dr Mark Taylor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tyndale Publishers and the Scripture Union- Ghana, for the partnership that had made the project successful. Mrs. Georgina Boakye, Headmistress of SUSEC thanked Mrs. Mills and her partners for the gesture and was optimistic that the students would avail themselves with the teachings of the Bible.
