Yaw Boateng Gyan: I Did Not Warn Kevin-Prince Boateng...

Black Stars management committee member Yaw Boateng Gyan has denied issuing a warning to Kevin-Prince Boateng over national team call ups. The veteran football administrator is quoted as issuing an ultimatum to the Schalke star to either turn up for the second-leg World Cup playoff against Egypt or forget playing at the World Cup. Many Ghanaians remain doubtful of the 26-year-olds commitment to the Black Stars after failing to make a playing return since renouncing his premature decision to quit international football three months ago. The ex AC Milan stars delay in returning to first team action with the Black Stars has been mainly attributed to his niggle injuries. Some many more others however believe the ex Germany youth star is only scheming to avoid playing in qualifiers as he prefers to play his football on bigger platforms such as the World Cup. This notion is what Boateng Gyan insists his earlier comments were directed at in order to advice his nephew to prove his commitment to the Black Stars and not necessarily a warning. I was only advising him [Boateng] not warning him, he told Metro FM. I was advicing him on the importance of honouring this national team call in order for us not to serve a bad precedence. People who play in the qualifiers and qualify the team to the World Cup deserve to play at the World Cup. No one works hard for someone else to come and enjoy. Boateng has been included in Ghanas 24-man squad for the second-leg clash of the World Cup playoff against Egypt in Cairo on November 19.
