For some days now, the grapevine has been full of the news some officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have approached a German veteran coach Klaus Toppmoller to become the new technical director of the senior national team, Black Stars if Ghana�s qualifies to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Since the story leaked, it has generated quite a storm, with some football fanatics and connoisseurs of the game, questioning the wisdom in the proposition. But some believe there are still doubts about Kwesi Appiah�s expertise despite Ghana�s 6-1 drubbing of Egypt, which they consider as a fluke. They insist the Black Stars� failure to get past the semifinal stage at the 2013 African Nations Cup staged in South Africa is ample testimony of their opinion. However, former Spokesperson for the GFA, Randy Abbey, in an interview with Peace Power Sports, strongly dismissed calls for a Technical Director to assist the current Black Stars coach describing them as �useless� and �baseless� with malicious agenda to sabotage Kwesi Appiah. Wondering the basis for the call, Randy Abbey pointed out that �it�s an insult to the intelligence� of the coach. To him, making such calls at this particular is indicative of the fact that Kwesi Appiah is incompetent, and questioned why calls are not being made for FA officials from South Africa or Europe to help in strengthen the administration of sports in the country. �This is a useless and groundless approach and I don�t see why people will even spend time to discuss this, it total useless and rubbish. Those calling for the technical director, we should ask them their basis for that request. Because you cannot disrespect somebody (Kwesi Appiah) just like that. That is why they always say Black people are the own enemies. ��What has happened for someone to think Kwesi Appiah needs help? Those saying that, are they more intelligent than him (Kwesi Appiah)? If Kwesi Appiah needs help, he will gladly go the FA to tell them. Why do they want to insult the man like that? Doesn�t he know his left from right�why? ��Why don�t we rather encourage him to play the second leg against Egypt and win so we qualify to the World Cup? At this time he is in charge of the team and people are making statement to believe he (Kwesi Appiah) is incompetent. Is that a sensible thing to do?� he questioned.
