Kwesi Appiah Knows His Job Ben Koufie

The former FA boss argues that the Black Stars have a competent technical bench to handle the team at the World Cup and there would be no need to appoint a technical director. Caf technical instructor Ben Koufie has rubbished claims that the Ghana FA is planning to appoint a technical director for the Black Stars, adding coach Kwesi Appiah knows his job well. Rumours have circulated in recent times in the local media about the possibility of an additional technically inclined person to augment the efforts of coach Appiah and his charges. Speaking to Uniiq FM, the 81-year-old former GFA chairman questioned the rationale behind such a call championed by another former FA boss Lepowura MND Jawula and special aide to the Minister of Youth and Sports Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah. They are all not technicians, they are sports administrators and so they cant judge a technical man, Koufie added. The Black Stars of Ghana who are on the brink of a third successive World Cup appearance having thumped the Pharaohs of Egypt 6-1 in the first leg of the World Cup qualifiers last month in Kumasi, have their job well cut out for them in the return leg on November 19 at the Air Defence Stadium in Cairo. Koufie went on to extol the virtues of Appiah on his achievements with the Black Stars. I thought if the team wasnt doing well then you can make this argument but the team is doing well, winning by not less than two goals in most of his matches, it clearly shows he knows what hes about, he argued.
