A Founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Mintah, has suggested the party sets up a complaint unit to enable members to seek redress for their grievances. The former Central Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Mintah, said the unit would prevent members from washing their dirty linen in public. He was reacting to the backlash against prominent personalities in the party and government officials who resorted to the media to air their disdain against some developments in the NDC. Speaking to Ghana News Agency in an interview at Winneba on Tuesday, Mr Mintah said the NDC should organise regular meetings to enable members who have access to party leaders to discuss common problems. Mr Mintah appealed to Ghanaians to give President John Dramani Mahama ample time to fix things and also fight corruption. He said Ghanaians should not sacrifice the image of the country for political gains. Mr Mintah noted that the government was facing difficult times and appealed to members and supporters of the party �not to abandon the President midway.� He said the President needed the support of all, especially the founder members, to fight corruption. �Fighting corruption should be seen as a collective responsibility and not for the President alone,� he added. The founder member said whoever was criticising the President should do so constructively and must not use partisan politics as a weapon for condemnation. �We are part of the problem and must all help to correct it but not shift the blame on the President.� A member of the NDC, Dr Simon Gbene, has also asked the NDC and the government to ensure that the structures work efficiently to enable senior members of government to get access to the President and contribute towards the governance of the country. Commenting on the outcry of Mr Alban Bagbin that members of the party and government were being denied access to the President, Dr Gbene said it was important for the President to also listen to the wisdom of senior members of the party. Speaking to Radio Ghana on the issue, Mr Essamoah said that was not the time to debate such issues on the airwaves. A legal practitioner, Kakra Essamoah, also said the NDC fraternity should stop discussing the outburst of Mr Bagbin in public and handle the situation maturely.
