I am Very Happy Mahama Fired Victoria Hammah - Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former Ghana Ambassador to Serbia, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has expressed delight in the way and manner President John Dramani Mahama handled the leaked tape of his former Deputy Communication Minister which has generated many cacophonies in the last week. Victoria Hammah was relieved of her post as Deputy Communications Minister by President John Mahama after she was heard loud and very clear on a leaked tape played on Accra-based NEAT FM, making explicit exposs about some confidential information within the government. The former Minister was heard telling a female companion that she will not quit politics until she makes at least US$1million and also describing her colleague Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Rachel Appoh, as a senseless, ugly, loud and egoistic woman who has been needlessly fighting her superior, Nana Oye Lithur. Speaking to Asempa FM, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe wonders why a young Deputy Minister would have a notion of getting such a whooping amount of money before leaving office (politics) instead of sacrificing for the betterment of the nation. If her (Victoria Hammah) idea is to get into politics to get money, then that is very disturbing, he said. Nonetheless, he lauded the President for standing on his authority to sack the Deputy Minister since such decisions are hardly to be taken. When I heard that the president has sacked her, I was very happy. Happy in the sense that such decisions are difficult to take and the President has been able to take such a decision, I was extremely glad about it. This is because; weve had Ministers who had behaved equally the same way or even worse and they were not at all touched, not in this government though. I think if the will have a firm hand over what happens in his government that will help this country a lot, I can assure that lot of people have learnt a lot of lesson of what has happened. If she had been left off the hock, it would have been a big problem, he opined. He however described President Mahamas decision as good and effective which other Ministers will take a key note in that to eradicate corruption. Sacking that lady shows that if you do that he (President Mahama) will deal with you, he noted.
