The Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Right Reverend Francis Benjamin Quashie, has urged Ghanaians not to accept the notion that they are poor. He explained that, though the country is facing economic difficulty, it has all it takes to turn around and enjoy prosperity. Bishop Quashie explained that, the challenge facing Ghana is how to motivate the citizens to explore their environment and turn them into economic resources to serve their needs. The Bishop who was speaking at the 75 Anniversary of Anum St Andrews Church at Anum at the weekend said the poverty theory had been used to make the people believe that they could not provide for themselves. Mr. Kofi Osei Ameyaw, Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman called on Ghanaians to speak out in order for those in authority to know about their grievances. The Asuogyaman District Chief Executive, Mr. Thomas Ampem Nyarko said the Assembly had budgeted of the construction of an operating theatre for the Anum clinic and the rehabilitation of the major culvert in the town to help improve upon the drainage system. He said the Assembly had budget for 30 percent of its internally generated fund as part of the District Development Fund and District Assemblies Common Fund to support community initiated projects.
