Mahama Is Doing What He Can - Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has said that President John Mahama is doing what he can to fight negative tendencies in the country. According to him, President Mahamas call for support to tackle corruption must be heeded by Ghanaians. Rawlings said he hopes some sanity could be restored in the country in the near future. The former president made the comments on Thursday when he visited the family of the late Harry Sawyer to commiserate with them. Rawlings, in a subtle manner, bemoaned the state of Ghana and said I dont know how Harry would have felt about the situation the country finds herself in today. He added that the young president is doing what he can and he has invited all to get involved. Harry Sawyerr was Education Minister under former President Jerry John Rawlings and also a member of the ruling party's Council of Elders. He was decorated by President John Atta Mills with the highest state honour. Mr. Sawyerr was a chartered surveyor with many years of successful practise and one of the most revered statesmen, both within the Ghanaian political class and in the Ga Community.
