Mahama Demands Total Focus From Black Stars

Ghana President John Mahama expects the Black Stars not get carried away by their big first leg victory against Egypt in the World Cup qualifying play-off. The Black Stars lead the tie 6-1 after recording the massive first-leg win in Kumasi last month with the aggregate winner qualifying for next year's finals in Brazil. On Tuesday in Cairo, Ghana could wrap up qualification and that would make it a third consecutive appearance for the Black Stars. The Ghanaian leader conveyed his expectation to the team through the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association Fred Crentsil after being briefed about the security arrangements in Cairo ahead of next week;s game. I want to assure you that the whole country will be behind the team, the President said. We had a very beautiful game here in Kumasi and one of the messages I have asked to be sent to the team is that they remove complacency. They should play like we dont have the 6-1. They should play like they are playing a whole new match. And so we all are looking forward to another victory to secure our passage to Brazil.
