I Expected NDC To Acclaim Bawumia; He Was Rather Charitable To Them And Complimentary

John Boadu, a former Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Partys (NPP), is outraged at the barrage of attacks directed at Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), after delivering a lecture at the Maiden Memorial Lecture in honour of the late Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama. According to him, he was expecting members of the current administration to extol the virtues of the two-time Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP because most of his comments were rather complimentary of the NDC. he made profound statements for which the NDC must be singing his praise. He said the PNDC government was the only government that had the muscle to liberalize the exchange rate regime, which was a catalyst. It was a massive departure from what we have had over the years, John Boadu said. He bemoaned the fact that communicators of the ruling party are quick to launch scathing attacks on leading members of the NPP, especially Dr Bawumia, anytime they broach the subject of the economy in their address without taking time to listen to the substance of the statements. Addressing the issue on PEACE FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show, John Boadu, who is aspiring for the position of National Organizer in the NPP, called for a debate on the chronological history of Ghanas economy, devoid of vilification. John Boadus remarks comes on the back of blistering attacks on the competence and person of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, moments after he delivered an address themed; "Indiscipline in Economic Management at the maiden Aliu Mahama memorial lecture. He also accused the Government of borrowing about US$20 billion since it came into power in 2009 and also asked the NDC to stop blaming the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) for the countrys poor kitty. Dr Bawumia described the NDCs Socialist Democratic ideals as Akonfem Socialism- taking from the majority poor and giving to the minority rich through corrupt means which has made the ordinary Ghanaian worse off. Akonfem socialism is this new brand of socialism where the government officials engage in chopping the meat to the bone. Rather than focusing on serving the people, our Akonfem socialists focus on coming up with schemes to steal money from the people. This is why we have the creation of schemes such as GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH, WAYOME, WATERVILLE, ISOTOFON, AAL, where the state has been defrauded of billions of Ghana cedis which could otherwise have been used for productive development expenditure. This is only what we know about. This is not what Ghanaians expect from the party of Probity and Accountability, he said.
