Id Rather Donate 10% Salary To Charity Than Give It To Govt NPP MP

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Dr. Mark Asibey Yeboah says he will not sacrifice a percent of his salary to the state given the wastage and corruption in government. His comments come on the back of a suggestion by the MP for Shai-Osudoku, David Tetteh Assumeng for all MPs to sacrifice five percent of their monthly salaries in the interest of the state. Tetteh Assumeng made the suggestion immediately after the Finance Minister announced that the president, veep and his appointees have donated 10 percent of their salaries to cut cost. Effective January 2014, the 10% according to the Seth Terkper will be paid into a fund for the construction of specialized Community Health Programmes and Service (CHPS) compounds, to deal with maternal mortality and neo-natal health care. But speaking on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo Wednesday, Dr. Asibey Yeboah said he will not contribute even one cedi to such a fund because, looking at the waste and corruption in the system, I would rather donate it to some charity or a church. The New Juaben South MP contended there is no sense of urgency on the part of the Mahama-led administration to fighting corruption. Dr. Asibey Yeboah said until government takes concrete steps to root out the canker, any call on MPs to sacrifice a quota of their salaries will fall on death ears. Unless I see government determined to cut the waste and corruption, I will not contribute to such a fund.
