Forge Ahead In Unity To Defeat NDC in 2016 - Agyepong Tells NPP Faithful

A former Press Secretary to President J. A Kufuor, Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has called on party faithful to forge ahead with a collective purpose to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general election. In line with this, he said genuine unity in the NPP was a must for victory in 2016. Mr Agyepong, who was interacting with media personnel in Wa in the Upper West Region, said even though the NPP had been in power for only two terms, it was the best and most reliable party when it came to governance. Mr Agyepong was in Wa to declare his intentions to contest the position of the NPP general secretary, to the regional executives of the party. He has, therefore, called on all members of the party to bury their differences. To this end, Mr Agyepong said he was ready to bring on board the kind of leadership which would restore the party as a genuine united force and ensure that the party machinery at the grassroot level was resourced to prosecute effective campaigning to recapture power in 2016. "Victory has eluded us in somewhat trying circumstances in the last two elections. Admittedly we cannot reverse the past but we can always learn from it and that is why we need to do things differently this time" he said. He also said he was ready and willing to serve the party in that capacity because the NPP needed people who are selfless and ready to sacrifice and serve. These, according to the former press secretary, must be the fulcrum around which the party's organisational and grassroot mobilisation revolved. "Mine is a desire to serve the party with a clear conscience, pure motives and a solid character premised on competence, compassion, commitment and courage", he noted, and said the NPP needed a leadership that was "intensely action oriented, passionately mission- minded, very demanding of results and one which is prepared to chase progress".
