The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority(SADA) is to partner with the Bongo District Assembly in the Upper East Region to exploit rock deposits in the District. The District Chief Executive for the area, Mr Alexis Ayamdor, said this at the second ordinary meeting of the Bongo District Assembly. �I am happy to inform you that SADA has taken the issue up and by January 2014 roads to the rock sites will be constructed followed by installation of machinery for quarry products�, he said. Mr Ayamdor said as part of the package, there would be the construction of estate houses that would help address the housing problem of staff in the area. He said the Bongo District was one of the Districts in the Region that was well endowed with rocks and appealed to all stakeholders including chiefs and assembly members to help to ensure that the rocks were exploited to the entire benefit and development of the District. On the street naming exercise, Mr Ayamdor said the Assembly had constituted a technical committee which would be inaugurated soon for vigorous work to begin and appealed to members to update their electorates on the importance of the exercise. He said to help improve the revenue generation base of the Assembly, he had tasked the Finance Directorate to come up with workable plans that would help mobilize enough revenue to propel the development of the area. He said leadership of the Assembly had met �Thengashep Ghana Limited�, the contractor in charge of the rural electrification project in the Upper East Region and assured the assembly members that the Energy Ministry would release funds soon for the completion of the project. He said five communities comprising Atiabisi, Nayorogo Appubeo Number Two, Nayorogo Atosalum, Goo Awaa and Kanga Atanseka would be hooked to the national grid and the remaining 34 communities would be hooked by 2014.
